      Lap Band

Lap Band is an effective method for helping morbidly obese people lose up to 80 percent of their excess body weight, it is a medical procedure that requires careful consideration. Lap-Band surgery is not a miracle cure for obesity. Patients must learn to modify their diet and follow a regular exercise program if the wish to benefit from the procedure. People who have had Lap Band must also regularly visit their physician to assess their progress until they have achieved their weight loss goals.

If you're concerned about the invasiveness of gastric bypass surgery, Lap Banding Surgery may be a better procedure for your weight loss needs. Lap-Band surgery involves no stomach stapling or cutting. No intestinal re-routing is necessary in the LAP BAND System. The Lap Band Surgery Procedure also has a lower mortality rate and fewer operative complications than gastric bypass surgery.

If you're a woman who plans to become pregnant in the near future, Lap banding may be the best choice for you. Unlike gastric bypass surgery, this procedure is fully reversible. Women who have had gastric banding surgery can have their stomach outlet size opened to accommodate the increased nutritional needs of pregnancy.

    Lap Band Surgeons

Weight loss surgery is an important decision to make when you're suffering from obesity and want to live a healthier, more comfortable life. There are new scientific techniques, which can help one in losing weight and become a healthy human being. Among all those techniques the most popular, beneficial and developed is “Lap Band surgery”.

The "Lap-Band System" is the brand name of the FDA-approved, adjustable gastric band used in the Lap-Band Procedure. A Lap-Band is a silicone belt or collar that goes around the upper part of the stomach. The surgery is done only and by the team of well qualified and experienced lap band surgeons. After this restrictive, reversible surgery, your stomach will be roughly the size of a golf ball, and only able to hold an ounce of food. As a result, your appetite will decrease, and you will eat less, feel full sooner and gradually lose weight. It is connected to a port that sits underneath the skin. This port can be inflated with saline to tighten it and expedite weight loss.

Lap band surgeons are available worldwide. Experience is the most important factor when one going to select a doctor.  The lap band surgeon should have qualified in the field of bariatric surgery from an accredited medical school. While comparing leading lap band surgeons, one should prefer lap band surgeons who are experienced lap band proctors. A lap band proctor is qualified to teach other surgeons about performing the lap band procedure. Obviously, it is better to be treated by the instructor rather than by the student.

A good lap band surgeon quickly develops a reputation for excellence. Before undergoing a surgery the patient should have knowledge about the surgeon’s qualification and his number of successful surgeries. A surgeon one feel comfortable with will be more likely to help the patient reach his/her weight loss goals. Any potential surgeon should be willing to answer patient’s questions, explain medical concepts that they don't understand, and offer advice about making good lifestyle.
